Your clipboard history lives on your devices and, when enabled, in your private iCloud database. Clip does not send that history to Code Refined servers. The details below explain the information used to provide each feature.
1. Scope
Code Refined develops Clip for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. This policy describes how the app, its optional keyboard, these web pages and our support service handle information.
Clip does not use a Code Refined server to store your clipboard history. It does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not sell your personal information.
2. Clipboard and image content
On Mac, Clip reads clipboard changes while monitoring is active. Saved items may contain text, links, images, file references, source application information and timestamps. Screenshots and images you edit are processed to provide capture, annotation, preview, copying and export.
On iPhone and iPad, the main app imports clipboard content through an action you choose. Items and associated image assets are saved in the app’s local storage. The optional keyboard uses the shared app storage described below.
Your clipboard may contain confidential information, including passwords or private documents. Clip cannot identify every sensitive item. Pause clipboard monitoring when appropriate and remove content you do not want to retain. Content marked as sensitive is excluded from iCloud synchronization; this is not a guarantee that all confidential content will be identified.
3. iCloud synchronization
When enabled, Clip uses Apple’s CloudKit private database associated with the iCloud account on your device to synchronize eligible items and assets. Clip also uses iCloud key-value storage for synchronization preferences. You can control history and image synchronization in the account settings.
Apple processes this information to provide iCloud. Code Refined does not receive a copy of your private clipboard database on its own servers. Synchronization requires an available iCloud account, a network connection and sufficient iCloud storage. Apple Watch reads eligible text and link history through iCloud.
Apple’s services are governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Clip does not claim that every type of iCloud data is end-to-end encrypted.
4. Optional keyboard
Clip’s iOS keyboard needs Full Access to read and write the history shared with the main app. While visible, and with Full Access and keyboard history enabled, it checks for clipboard changes and can save supported content. Monitoring stops when the keyboard is hidden or its host becomes inactive.
The keyboard inserts content you select into the current application. Clip does not transmit a log of your typed keys to Code Refined. You can disable Full Access, turn off keyboard history or remove the keyboard in iOS settings.
5. Apple sign-in and purchases
Sign in with Apple inside Clip is optional. If you use it, Clip receives an Apple user identifier and, when provided by Apple, your name and email address. Clip stores these account details locally to show your session status. This sign-in is separate from the iCloud account configured on your device.
Signing out removes the local sign-in information. It does not delete your clipboard history or cancel your subscription. You can manage or revoke the app’s Sign in with Apple authorization through your Apple Account settings.
Apple handles purchases and payment information. Clip uses StoreKit to verify transactions and subscription status, including the purchased product, expiration and revocation information. Code Refined does not receive your payment-card details from Clip. Apple may provide the developer with App Store sales information.
6. Permissions, retention and deletion
Mac screen capture requires Screen Recording permission. Pasting directly into another app requires Accessibility permission. File selection and export use the operating system’s permission dialogs. You can revoke permissions through system settings.
Saved items remain until you delete them or an applicable history-retention setting removes them. Delete individual items from the history, or use the Mac history-clearing action. With synchronization enabled, item deletions are propagated when synchronization succeeds. Turning synchronization off does not itself delete existing iCloud copies.
Temporary image exports may remain in the app’s temporary storage until cleaned up. Your own exported files, backups and content pasted into other apps are separate copies and must be managed separately. Removing the app alone may leave local or iCloud data behind. Contact support for help removing remaining app data.
Code Refined cannot remotely inspect or erase content stored only on your devices or in your private iCloud database. Subscription cancellation is handled separately through Apple.
7. Support and beta testing
If you contact us, we receive your email address, message and any name, device details, screenshots or attachments you choose to send. We use these to respond and investigate the issue, through our email service provider. Please avoid sending passwords or private clipboard content.
Support correspondence is retained as needed to handle the request and meet applicable obligations. You can request access, correction or deletion of information sent to support at clip@coderefined.co.
If you test Clip through TestFlight, Apple may share test information, crash reports and feedback with the developer under its TestFlight terms and your settings. This is separate from a third-party analytics SDK embedded in Clip.
